Why Nobody Can Quote You a Real Number Sight Unseen
Any company that gives you a firm price over the phone without seeing your home is guessing. Gutter cleaning prices depend on real things: how many feet of gutter you have, how many stories tall the house is, how steep the roof is, how packed the gutters are, and how much tree cover hangs over everything. A small rancher with light trees and a three-story colonial under old oaks are different jobs with different prices. That is why our estimates are free and on-site — we look, then we quote.
What Drives the Price Up
Height. Two and three-story homes take more time, more ladder work, and more safety setup than a rancher. Length. More gutter footage means more scooping and more debris. How full. Gutters that have not been cleaned in three years take twice as long as gutters cleaned last fall. Tree cover. Heavy canopy means more debris, more valleys to clear, and often roof debris that needs handling too. Access. Steep slopes, tight side yards, and landscaping right under the roofline all slow the work down.
What Drives the Price Down
Regular service. Gutters cleaned twice a year never get bad enough to be expensive — each visit is quick. This is the real math behind our maintenance plans: plan visits cost less per visit than one-off cleanings, because the gutters are never a disaster when we arrive. Gutter guards. Once guards are on, you are paying for quick checks, not full cleanings. Bundling. Adding whitening or roof debris removal to a cleaning costs less than booking them separately.
Red Flags in Pricing
Watch out for prices that seem too good — the classic bait is a rock-bottom cleaning quote from a crew that plans to "find" expensive repairs once they are on the ladder. Also watch for vague quotes: "starting at" prices that double on arrival, or quotes that do not say whether downspouts are included. (Ours always are.) A real quote is written, itemized, and given before work starts — not after.
The Cheapest Gutter Is a Maintained One
The most expensive gutter cleaning is the one that comes after years of neglect — packed gutters, rotted fascia, pulled hangers. The cheapest is the one that happens on schedule, twice a year, before anything goes wrong. Whatever you pay for a cleaning, the plan that prevents the emergency is the better deal.
